Hate is a very intense negative emotion. Could it also possibly be a mental defect?

    Depends on whether the hate is reasonable and reasoned. Like I hate Trump - it's based on his stupidity, his ignorance, his illiterate speeches, his bad-mouthing his supposed allies, his sucking up to enemies who are making fun of him... need I go on! 

    If I were to say, as Trump has, that certain nations are sh*t-nations then that's usually an illogical hate. A blanket hate with no reason or basis.. 

    I don't necessarily hold fear of hating.. it's a natural human emotion, like anger..

    I think hate is most damaging to the hater, not the target. Thank you for your reply Addb and Happy Sunday to thee. The white house entertainer actively hates multiple targets 24/7. He lives on it. He gets off on it. It energizes him more than anything else. He is an oddity of great porportion both figuratively and literally. Our bad luck he exists on our watch. :)
