What I found to be overrated was the Sistine Chapel. Aside from the fact that it took an enormous amount of effort to get there, it is much smaller than I imagined and I was disappointed.
It is, but I have to tell you that I absolutely adored the art and architecture. The gardens, seen from the observatory, are spectacular and the Cathedral itself it magnificent.
Having been to the Vatican as well (where, by rights, I should have burst into flames), it didn’t compare to another version of fairy tale land I discovered in tiny Liechtenstein. Highly recommend it. It’s like Austria, only mellower.
No one can beat that since the Vatican is the smallest country in the world (although some say it is not a country but an independent city state). In addition to the Vatican, I have been to Monaco, which is next smallest to the Vactican, San Marino, and Gibralter which are some of the smallest countries in the world.
