    A toque is a type of hat with a narrow brim or no brim at all. Toques were popular from the 13th to the 16th century in Europe, especially France. The mode was revived in the 1930s. Wikipedia

    I know that. This is just a bit of wordplay inspired by a conversation about hats being called tuuks or toques. It's not a big leap from toque to toke.

    Is toque meant to refer to both torque and toke?

    If so, I'd envisage six twists of hemp rope around six pulley wheels to haul the Canadians to the rooftop where the bong awaits them.
