Mine has a spot for a hex wrench at the bottom. I periodically had to kickstart mine for the last year it was alive. Perhaps rust or goo... I know not, but if I shut it off and used the wrench at the bottom or the outside to spin the blades, it came back to life. There's also a reset button on it, more than likely.

    yep
    what JA said
underneath the garbage disposal there is a little red button
which is a circuit breaker that trips when it gets stopped up.
push it in and maybe all is well.
    if it still doesn't go
put hex head wrench in slot at bottom of garbage disposal and turn it till it is free.
when the the button is pushed in try to turn it on and it might free itself.
if not i'll stop by in the morning and fix it. LOLOL

When mine did that, I eventually had to replace it. Found one on Craigslist dirt cheap. But I outsourced the installation to a relative.

Sometimes you can find them for free from people who are updating their kitchens and just want to get rid of it. I got a 'badger' which is a good solid machine and usually inexpensive, so I'd look for one of those. They last forever. Best of luck :)

Guess what, Fork?  I FIXED it all by myself.   There was a "reset" button under the stupid tank and I pressed it and "voila"!!!

    Hooray.

  • I don't know much about those things.  Maybe you need to invest in some trashbags until you get it fixed.
If this helps; why or why not? This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at September 29, 2016 5:29 PM MDT

I cannot for the life of me figure how to use a trashbag when I am emptying my sink.   It grinds up food in the sink.  THE SINK, I tell you.

  • Don't waste trashbags that way. Trashbags are for wearing, not throwing away. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at September 29, 2016 7:11 PM MDT

The machine is not very expensive but installation will be.  Do you have someone who can install it.  This is plumbing related and I have only horror stories with plumbing and have given up on DIY plumbing repairs.

I know everyone is talking about getting an old one.  I personally couldn't do that.  They don't cost enough!!!
