Did you ever play with tops?

    OH!!  OH!! OH!!!
    PICK ME!!!  PICK ME!!!

    I would like to share!!!
    I Did and Do!

I like to give fun gifts.  Gifts that aren't saws or power tools but things that will help keep a person entertained along the way.

About 10 years ago, I bought Don a Top for his birthday. I figured he was old enough (55 on that year) to have played with them as a child and know how to spin it.
We had a few people over and when he opened it, the "Top" was the life of the party!!
He taught all of us how to spin it and competitions began. It drove Chance, our dog, crazy and there were many tiny "Top" indentations on the kitchen floor but it was worth it!
Everybody took a spin at spinning the Top!

Time has passed and we have moved.  But, a couple of years ago, Don found his Top from that birthday, packed in a box, in the office.  He brought it out with a Huge Grin and started spinning it, once again, on the kitchen floor. :)
    Forget the expensive power tools.

That Top was The best 3 dollars I've ever spent! This post was edited by Merlin at July 9, 2022 7:21 PM MDT

    Thank you Baba~ :) :)!
I love to tell that story.  It was the littlest thing I saw at Finnagens, a toy store, and thought of him, wondering if he knew how.

The point at the bottom isn't sharp anymore.  It wobbles more than spins accurately, but Don can still make it stand tall and spin for over a minute!

The reason I love to share that story is because it proved to me, it is the little things, we do everyday, that can make a difference in someone's life.

You may not think it is that big of deal but it is to the person you gave to.
Holding the door open, letting someone go first who has fewer items than you at the grocery store, sharing a smile, saying thank you.

Big things are VERY important but sometimes, it is the little things that stay with a person and make them smile.

Thanks again, Baba and have a great day!
    :) :)

Are you telling me you haven't seen any form of a top and played with it before?
Maybe twirled it around your fingers before dropping it leisurely on the floor?
Oh!  Different type of top.  Never mind!
    ;) :)

"Top" is a term used to refer to a woman's shirt or blouse. Hence the term "Topless Bar".

You’ve got it all wrong, this is what it looks like when I personally have a blonde moment:

I was thinking the same -- I posted my answer --  and then read all the other answers - - and I deleted mine since you already said it.

Absolutely! My grandma had a wonderful collection of toys from her children's era, and even had a few from her era. I always enjoyed the old-fashioned toys when I was young.
