Once you get on the other side what do you find? Better worse the same? Better in some ways worse in some way the same in some ways.
Odd that others appreciate your country more than you do. Maybe they appreciate YOU more than you do.
The grass nearly always looks greener on the other side because we’re seeing it from a distance. We see our “grass” close up; therefore, we see all the weeds and brown spots (imperfections). The other side has its share of weeds and brown spots as well, but the further one gets from something, the less flagrant the imperfections appear. We know exactly where the imperfections in our grass are located; therefore, our eyes are always drawn right to them. Since we don’t know about any imperfections on the other side, we see that lawn as a whole – green and, seemingly, perfect.
As with an actual lawn, the more time and effort one puts into it, the better it will look. The same is true with our lives. If all we do is sit around envying other lawns, ours will deteriorate from neglect. We need to be content with focusing on our own grass. Who knows, maybe the other side looks greener because it’s sitting over a septic tank. Hmmm… suddenly our imperfect grass is looking a lot better.
