What would happen if Trump were prez and he ordered a nuclear strike on a country because he felt threatened and the military REFUSED?

Would the entire military be court-martialed? How does that work? Must the order of the Commander-in-Chief be obeyed without question or there would be he** to pay no matter how goofy or unwarranted the order was? Who can say? Anyone know?

    Hello Rosie:

The president has the codes.  He doesn't need anybody's permission to launch..  If he ordered it, the military would follow his orders, absolutely..

That's scary especially with the two running this time I don't trust either one of them.

Some in the military said they would REFUSE to obey any orders that bordered on TORTURE such as waterboarding excon. If they would refuse to do that why wouldn't they refuse to blow up the world? I sure hope you're wrong. Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday! :)

    Hello again, Rosie:

The system is set up so the prez can shoot our missiles NOW, with NO discussion..  There's not a single soldier in that command who would QUESTION the order to shoot..  Not a one.

(edited)  The underlying assumption is, that the president would ONLY fire our missiles AFTER the enemy fired his.  So, when a strike is ordered, enemy missiles are PRESUMED to be in the air and headed OUR way.

The joke, if you wanna call it a joke, is that nobody, and I mean NOBODY, ever thought that the Oval Office would be inhabited by a thin skinned person who believes that you NEVER, EVER let a slight go by..

If he wins, the joke is on US.

Well, there are some times when even the maddest crackpot has to face reality. One is that if Congress does not renew funding, the agency in question no longer exists. Another is that if any level within government refuses to support higher levels, the higher levels are helpless.

We have the example of the Chinese navy. At one time it was a respectable force, but the emperor ordered something that frightened the bureaucrats, so they scuttled the entire navy to protect their jobs. That is why China had no part in exploring the world.

You should remember that we have a representative form of government. When the officials seem corrupt, it's because they correctly represent a corrupt electorate. If not so, the people will refuse to support the regime. They don't have to throw it down, just stop holding it up. It is enough to stand in the streets and shout, as has happened in several countries recently.
