The same broad area also hosts statements, so if you can come up with a better way to word both things in one, let me know.

Header/heading instead of title, Randy? This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at October 1, 2016 10:54 PM MDT

Header. I like that. Let's see if anyone else says anything.

It is good having him back. I won't bother trying to hide that though. I had to lasso him and drag him in. lol

Oh my. The pictures I'm imagining on that one are not suitable for the family room. Woah.

Why do they need headers or titles or banners or broad areas or anything at all?  They should stand alone.

It's like it was before. We had the question, and we had the explanational space to elaborate on the question. It's not that different except for wordings.

Why can't questions be called questions instead of discussions, and why are we back to the 140-character limit again?

Because questions and statements are in the same section, code-wise. I'm not against splitting them up, but I have to prioritize spending here and that's low man on the totem pole. It was a simple way for me to be able to banish statements. On the old site, I couldn't move them. I ticked a lot of people off by deleting non-questions. Now, I can just banish them into statement purgatory with a click, and nobody yells at me.

140 characters? It was 64 or something and I picked the length of a tweet to make it longer. There has to be some cutoff or there will be chaos in some areas of the site.

Secretly, it's 200, but some symbols, like the and sign (&) count for four when the computer looks at them, so I told everyone 140 to make sure they'd meet the cutoff, even if they used symbols that boggled the system.

It always said something. People need some kind of prompt so they know what to do.

Just refer to them as sections or areas of the site, the QnA section, the blog section, the statement section.  Discussion is what happens under an OP in any one of those section.  Just a suggestion.

We're trying to figure out what to rename the heading area on the questions/ statements creation form. It's the same form for both.

Just wondering, is there a slow reply screen?  ;) This post was edited by Thriftymaid at October 3, 2016 12:32 AM MDT

Clicking quick reply is still a whole lot quicker than scrolling to the bottom of 50 responses, no?

  • Reading the responses of other members is part of the experience. It can save a lot of duplicate answers, and gives members the chance to interact with each other. If everyone just clicked on 'fast response' there will be a lot less interaction between the members. That's just my opinion.

Everyone uses the site differently. The old Mug put the box at the top, so there wasn't any need to scroll at all. This one actually makes you scroll past the answers. If you prefer to stop and interact, more power to you, but not everyone is the same.

Ahhhhhh, you see I didn't know there was more than one reply box.  I'm much happier being in the know. Thanks!  (Are you getting tired of my issues yet?)  Really nonissues mostly, just my lack of knowledge about this new creation.  It's coming right along now.  Congrats.
