Is Trump gonna MELTDOWN again, in Debate #2 on Sumday?? It's a Town Hall, and Donald HASN'T performed well in Town Halls..

Hello:

This ISN'T gonna be like a Town Hall on Hannity..  There will be NO softball questions.  There WILL be followup.  It should NOT be forgotten that when drilled down in previous Town Halls, Trump revealed that women SHOULD suffer some form of PUNISHMENT for having an abortion, and that South Korea, Japan and Saudi Arabia SHOULD have their own NUKES, because we can't "afford" to protect them anymore...

Buy lots of popcorn.

    Hello again, Glis:

Debates ARE contests WITH winners and losers.  They're designed that way.  It's NOT just opposing sides giving their stump speeches. That would be boring.. To WIN a debate takes an entirely different skill set than simply memorizing a speech..  It's a skill set one WANTS their president to have..

  • There really isn't any winning a debate.  That's a myth,   that's to say ones views and opinions are wrong.  The only sorta win is who sways more people over to their side than the other.  That's it.

Even still, so I'll accept that there is a winner and loser in it.   To treat it all as a sporting event, with entertainment value included, just pollutes the pool and makes a joke out of the system. This kind of attitude only increases the divide and alienates us more from each other.

    Hello again, Glis:

Nahh..  You don't SAY his opinion is wrong..  You PROVE he's wrong with FACTS, LOGIC, and HISTORY..   You run up the score, spike the ball, and do a dance in the end zone..  Ok, maybe not the last.

If DESTROYING a position with FACT and REASON furthers the divide, then it's a divide that SHOULD be widened..  You don't close a divide with FANTASY..

  • You can't prove an opinion wrong.  Opinions and facts are two completely different things.
You're engaging in the same war mentality that destroys us.   "We are right on everything. and We are valid."   You are wrong on everything and invalid."   " Now submit to our superiority."  You can't prove an opinion,  you can only prove their facts they present are wrong.

Fanatical politics on any side are scary as hell.  The worst government systems have one thing in common.   They were all brought on by people who were way too passionate and excited about politics and got a hard-on over them.

  • I'm afraid I have to disagree Glis.  People can attract support through a variety of methods.  Being clear and articulate about why one holds views is far more persuasive than 'It's my opinion'.  Of course there will always be those who, having had the idiocy of their preferred candidate demonstrated will still be 'loyal'.

There's nothing wrong with having opinions, but if you can't justify them or explain them you should be in trouble as a politician outside those who share identical views.  I've heard weaselly US politicians attempt to protect themselves from questions by saying, 'It's what I believe', as if belief is so much more precious and sacred than reason.  Pathetic.  More pathetic is that the media often fails to hold people to account for what they have said or for their 'beliefs'. There's nothing wrong with asking, 'What is your opinion based on'.

No guarantee you'll get a nonsense free reply of course.  :)  But at least it has the possibility of reducing the number of people supporting what is almost always bad for them.

  • I agree, still there is no real win or lose and debates are highly over played in their importance.  Especially the ****show that the American debate has become in the last 50-60 years.  It's just a pony show the way we treat and hold them.

  • Ah, now I fully agree with you there.  :)

It's a circus, a pantomime whose purpose is to persuade people they might have a choice.  Western governments haven't really offered their electorates a real choice for a time that can be measured in decades rather than years.

I wholly expect that to happen. She's a pretty seasoned politician, she knows how to divert, deflect and redirect. He is someone you can poke just right and he'll eventually spew-forth like a fountain of belligerence. It is his Achilles' Heel, she knows that and will milk it for all it's worth.

Completely agree.  Her asset is being able to stay calm while he flails.

  • It will depend on what kind of people get to ask what kind of questions.
