    Two reasons – Processing and because they can charge more.

    Why does a no salt can of tomatoes cost the same (or more) than a can of tomatoes with salt?  Logically, not having salt in it should make it less expensive (they don’t have to pay for the added salt).  Same answer.

    Salt is a preservative.  Taking the salt out makes the shelf life less stable which could lead to more product being thrown away. This post was edited by SpunkySenior at July 25, 2020 1:06 PM MDT
