Animal Vegetable Mineral. Which is the SMARTEST animal, the SMARTEST vegetable and the SMARTEST mineral? Why think you that?

Given that vegetables and minerals lack a brain or even a central nervous system, neither can be said to be "smart".
The smartest animal may well be a matter of opinion. Man has always claimed to be more intelligent than dolphins,  because he has achieved so much - the wheel, New York, wars and so on - while all the dolphins have ever done is to muck about in the water having a good time. Conversely, dolphins have always assumed themselves to be more intelligent than man - for precisely the same reasons.

I KNOW you have an imagination R! C'mon! Give! If vegetables could think which would be best at it? And minerals too. Would it be one that is exotic and dangerous or one that is benign and harmless. We can animate anything. Your TV will talk to you so will your cell phone. Your car will tell you that "your door is ajar". There is some dame you talk to through your cell and ask questions of and she answers them. Siri or Alexi or something. Sounds Russian to me personally. I think maybe broccoli would be the smartest. As for a mineral maybe something out there to be discovered just waiting to be found. Gold silver platinum uranium? So many choices! Thank you for your reply R and Happy Tuesday! :)

Okay. Butternut squash, because it looks like Abe Lincoln sans beard.
Garnet, because that can be very gneiss.

Once again you came through with flying colors m'dear! I shall never look at a Butternut squash again without thinking of President Lincoln. Not a bad thing during these trying times. I had to look up gneiss....a metamorphic rock with different bands. Of color? Now garnet is red right? So different reds? Thank you for my new word R. I'm not sure how often I can fit that into a conversation but it's there if I need it! :)  You know if I don't goofy from time to time I'll go around the bend and stay there. Maybe that's still ahead. Who knows?

It was an attempted pun - gneiss/nice. Fail.
Garnet is often found in it - a semiprecious gemstone.

No R. My INABILITY to GET IT was at fault. Not your ability to use it. I took it literally and looked it up. Sometimes I do not get that folks are joking or teasing or punning. Whatever gene it is that determines that must be defective in me. But the upside is I learned a new word so how awful is that? Not at all. Thank you for the explanation. Once again I didn't catch a ball that was thrown directly to me. Dagnabbit! :(
