US presidential trivia: did you know that from 1841 to 1963, approximately* every 20 years, the president died while in office?

*Not exactly 20 years each time, but close to it.

    The US is overdue for an assassination. I'm actually amazed that Obama survived TWO terms - black AND liberal, two things that gun-toting rednecks can't stand.

      I think history shows that some assassinations (worldwide, not just US, and no just countries’ leaders) have backfired on the perpetrators‘ intended results due to the aftermaths, so much so that even the most rabid or irrational person/group/entity hesitates to carry them out in certain cases.
      Turning one’s opponent into a martyr, or even worse, garnering sympathy and empathy for the opponent’s movement is indicative of an assassination plan gone wrong.

    From 1840 to 1963 every president elected in a year ending in 0 died in office.  Assassination attempts were made on George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan (who came close to dying). Maybe Trump should think about dropping out the 2020 race (or maybe not).

    That is interesting.  
    As Jane said there were attempts on both Reagan (1980s) and Bush W (2000s).
