Well, any plant has a finite life so in time it is scrapped, often to be replaced by a new version.

So yes they will be, but not necessarily because anyone has stopped using nuclear power.

What is the main benefit of relying upon nuclear power? As a deterrent to keep people in line as a threat to mankind?

Does it provide CLEAN energy though potentially DEADLY? There is no such thing as CLEAN COAL is there? You makes your choice and you lives with it. Which choice is best? Thank you for your reply Durdle! :)

Nuclear power's time is limited. Back when solar was expensive, nuclear made sense - it's a lot cleaner than coal, and once a reactor goes critical, it's relatively cheap to run. But everything wears out eventually.
Building NEW nuclear power plants is fiendishly expensive, solar is dirt cheap now - and it's modular nature (you can put it anywhere) puts less strain on an ageing grid. Decentralization. Solar is the way of the future, with battery storage to save the solar you don't use in the daytime to run things at night. South Australia commissioned a dirty great battery two years ago, and last summer, for the first time anyone can remember, our state was a net EXPORTER of power. Mostly solar,  with a little wind. The auxiliary gas dynamo wasn't fired up. Unnecessary.
