117 F.  It was during a summer heat wave we had here back in the late 70's.  It was only that hot for 1 day.  The other days in that 5-day heat wave stayed in the low to mid 100’s.  It’s “unofficial” as I didn’t keep written records back then.

During this current heat wave (August 13th - ?), this location has set 4 new records -

    14th - 100.2 F; old record – 98 F set in 1992

    15th - 103.8 F; old record – 98 F set in 1992

    16th - 101.0 F; old record – 98 F set in 1992

    17th - 100.5 F; old record – 98 F set in 1992

The hottest day on record in August was 106, set on August 4th 1998

The longest number of records set on consecutive days was 5 back in 1995 (15th-20th).  With 100’s forecasted through Wednesday, we may tie or break that record (depending on cloud cover).

Gee Shuhak I didn't know it ever got THAT HOT "up north"! Now I do. Have you experienced rolling blackouts where you live? We haven't....YET. Not looking forward to it if/when we do. :)

Thankfully, they canceled the blackout scheduled for yesterday.  Good thing as it’s hard to evacuate in the dark.

I’m currently under an evacuation warning as there’s big fire heading this direction.  The current mandatory evacuation line is at the top of the hill (< 1 mile).  I'm all packed up and ready to leave if they say get out.  It’s too hot and smoky to try to evacuate with the animals, so I'm staying here as long as I can.   Hopefully they can get a handle on the fire today as the winds finally died down

Oh my I'm so sorry Shuhak. In my entire life I have never been in that situation where a fire was threatening and we had to get ready to leavel Fingers crossed you got ready for nothing. Our thoughts are with you m'dear.  Having to also worry about your animals? That is double awful. Once again fingers crossed! :)

I guess being surrounded by water made it very humid as well. Not the most fun though some folks ADORE hot weather. My dearly departed sister-in-law Jo did and our daughter-in-law who lives in Buckeye, Arizona does. Go figger! Was that your ship E? How many served on it with you? Thank you for your reply and the photo and Happy Tuesday to thee and thine! :)

My entire 20 years seemed to fly by. The ship is the USS LaSalle and the Command ship of all of the military forces in the region.

You know m'dear that's a very good thing. That means you were always involved occupied participating contributing. How sad are those who lives DRAG by? Very I think. Thank you for your reply. So does time drag by now for you? It seems to keep accelerated for Jim and me. Seriously. I'll ask. It's so weird. Sunday we strip the bed and  change bedding. Wednesday we take out the trash for Thursday pickup. Tuesday we go to Walmart and Thursday we go to Winco. Every week. Repeat repeat repeat repeat. It's going faster and faster and faster for both of us. Something is very remiss. Should it be slowing down and dragging out? :)

You TOTALLY get what I mean. Is it a trick of the mind E? I expect for some folks time just drags and I think that would make for a dull life. But the speed with which we are experiencing our lives happening WHILE WE ARE LIVING THEM is something I do not recall being aware of when I was younger. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday to you and your family! STAY SAFE! :)

The hottest I remember being in was in Riverside when it reached 115. Yesterday here it was 111. So far this year it seems to be hotter back to back to back. Longer periods of triple digit. Air conditioning is the great leveler. As long as we got it we don't notice the weather. California has had "rolling blackouts" the last fews days with more to come probably but so far not in Hemet. Thank you for your reply R and Happy Tuesday. When you go outdoors from inside it's like you're hit with the blast from an oven! :)

The last time it hit that temperature I was working afternoon shift. I quit at 9pm and when I walked out of the air conditioned box, I was stunned. 105F at 9 o'clock at night. Insane.

Oh my gosh! That is AWFUL no matter how you slice it R. Hopefully that doesn't come your way again. Right now it's 79F at 4:28 AM Hemet California time. High today will be 109 allegedly. When we go to bed it's been in the 90's so we run our air conditioning longer these days. I wonder how much "knowing" affects us? If you hadn't read the temp d'ya think you'd have been as hot? I just wonder when knowing works against us. I'll ask. Thank you for your reply! :) This post was edited by RosieG at August 19, 2020 1:55 AM MDT
