    Yes...for my security clearance in the Navy. I found out things about my father I never knew. Also, once every five years, teachers here had to be fingerprinted for use by the FBI.

      The agency I worked for required not only that a background check be completed on applicants before hiring them, but once hired, they also required renewed background checks every five years on all employees. My first “five-year” background check took place around my fifteen-year mark.
