  • "Is" is an auxiliary verb.  It does not have a definition like a noun does, description is not it's function.

    Good philosophical question. I'd prefer the term meaning to definition.

    Also I have to say that using the verb 'is' to formulate the question rather assumes that it has some meaning (or definition), something I suggest requires proof first.
