Does Donald Duck swim? Throw him into the ocean and what will happen? Will he survive or drown?

He doesn't like exercise because "it takes too much energy".

He doesn't need to swim.  All that hot air will keep him afloat.

It goes well.  The weather here has been cool these past few days and I'm loving it.  It's been cloudy, but I can't tell if some of that is due to the smoke from the fires on the West Coast.  I understand the re is a layer of smoke above the cloud cover.  No rai in the forecast for the next 10 days.  It's so ironic that the west is dry as dust and the south has 2-3 feet of rain.  It's too bad the south can't send some of that water to the west.

I wonder if one day we will be able to modify equalize control the weather? Plan it on a grid so that no area is dry and no area gets flooded. I shall ask. Thank you for your reply L and Happy Saturday! :) This post was edited by RosieG at September 19, 2020 9:13 AM MDT

Perhaps, but I doubt it will happen in my lifetime.

I hope it will. You are younger and I'm hoping to see it! How does hoping harm anything? Thank you for your reply L! :)

Hope springs eternal, but not if it's followed by morbid.  I try not to do morbid.

Wait till you are 82 going on 83 and someone you love seems to be "getting old" before your eyes. I'm noticing differences L. Of course he could also be noticing differences in me. C'est la vie! Thank you for your reply. SIGH.

Well, I'm not that far behind - I turned 75 yesterday. but I know what you mean.  I don't have a significant other but when I look at photos on Facebook of people with whom I went to high school and see how they've aged, I wonder if I look that old to them, too.  :)

Oh Happy Birthday honey...retroactively! I'm sure you look way younger than your age. How do I know? I just know these things. My "baby" sister when to her 50th a couple of years ago. She said she was amazed at how well preserved some of her former classmates were! Of course some had died. I only went to one reunion...my 25th! I graduate in 1954 and I was very well pleased at how good everyone looked. Some came out of their shell and sparkled! It was really nifty! Thank you for your reply L and Happy Sunday! :)

Thank you.  With Covid hanging around, it was a non-event, but that's OK, too.  I think I've held up pretty well over the years.  No one thinks I'm this old. :)

SEE? I TOLD YOU SO! So I guess all celebrations for all kinds of things will be delayed defrayed until "later". I just wonder how later later will be don't you? This is dragging out far longer than it needed to. The rest of world is back in business. We're still behind the 8 ball due to the indiference of our "dear leader". Thank you for your reply L! :)

The three of us who had big birthdays this year are hoping that we can celebrate it some time next year when the virus abates.  Before all this happened, we were thinking of a short cruise to celebrate, but not anymore.  We'll probably wind up getting together at someone's home and we'll have just as good a time.

You know what L? A cruise is something I never wanted to experience. Being trapped with a bunch of strangers surrounded by water is not my cuppa tea. It never was and never will be. Before we met Jim had gone on a few cruises and really enjoyed them. I'm glad he got it out of his system. You hear HORROR stories about the plumbing breaking down or people being assaulted or thefts occurring. It doesn't happen all the time but it happens often enough that I will never gamble on it. Thank you for your reply! Three is a very good number. You can social distance close together and no one will get upset! :)

I did a cruise once for a week from Vancouver to Alaska's Inside Passage.  I loved every minute of it.  Our stateroom was comfortable, the food was amazing, they staff treats you like gold and you can spend as much or as little time wherever the ship stops as you like.  It was the only time I ever played Bingo in a group. :)  There was nightly entertainment, a musical Revue and a casino.  Of course, this had to be 20-25 years ago, so we didn't have any of the negative things happening that you read about now.  The best part is that other than liquor and off-ship sightseeing locally, everything on the ship is included.  Once you're in port, you can do most of the sightseeing in our own if you're adventurous.  The only thing we would have paid for was a helicopter trip to the Mendenhall Glacier, but that got cancelled due to low cloud ceiling and the 'copter couldn't fly.  I have to admit I was very disappointed, but other than that, it was a really wonderful vacation.

OMG L! My dearly loved and adorable sister-in-law Jo (sadly gone due to emphysema) took an Alaska cruise with her husband Larry which she LOVED. This was probably about 20-25 years ago. Wouldn't it be amazing if you were on THAT cruise? She gave me a FRIDGE magnet which I am now looking at.

"ALASKA'S INSIDE PASSAGE". It shows Skagway Glacier Bay Juneau Sitka W Rangell and Ketchikan! NOW WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THAT? I just got shivery. Life is sure amazing. I mean you're a NEW YORKER and she and her husband Larry lived just outside of RENO, Nevada. SIGH. I wonder what else there is out there like that? Some coinkydink don'tcha think? Thank you for your reply! Are you shivery too?

The cruise was part of a more extensive trip.  We left NY and landed in Salt Lake City, boarded a bus and did a couple of hours tour there, then went on through Yellowstone National Park, Montana, Idaho to Seattle stopping along the way to see the sights.  From Seattle we went to Vancouver, boarded the ship, came back to Seattle, drove down through Oregon to San Francisco and flew home from there.  We did, Juneau, Ketchikan, Glacier Bay, Sitka (not in that order).  It was one of the best two-week vacations I've ever had.

The rest of the world may be back in business, but India has had a huge increase in Covid cases and deaths, the UK, Spain and France are going in the wrong direction again, so it may be that we are doing the best thing by not opening everything up at once.
