No, I wasn’t smart enough to be a nerdy dork when I was a kid.

I did that a few times. My son and I wrote a prime number program...cool.

Did that too - with a whole bunch of PCG graphics, purely for effect.

I was also into D&D - so much so that I had a Bard, a Monk and a half-orcish cleric/assassin (a shaman of Gruumsh, naturally), among others. How's that for nerdy? This post was edited by Slartibartfast at September 23, 2020 9:15 AM MDT

We don't use such derogatory terms where I live. Words like that are basically no better than the n-word for black people.

Absolutely no derogatory words, terms or names are ever used there?  Wow, that sounds great!

What I mean is, we do not stereotype people here and we do not use derogatory terms to describe a particular type of person. We only insult people for PERSONAL reasons because they've done something to offend us PERSONALLY, in which case they deserve every derogatory name they get. But using unnecessary derogatory names to stereotype people for non-personal reasons (like calling black people the n-word, for example) is just unthinkable.

Gosh and golly...it must be heck to live where you do, although I am sure it is beautiful.

Why must it be "heck" to live in a civilised community?

  • I've always had nerdy interests and a bit of dorky personality at times but I never looked the part. Never even owned a pocket protector.

    No.

It took me years to fully embrace my nerdiness.
