I won't get on a plane unless my flyboy is at the helm...or whatever you call it on a plane.
Maybe it is "at the controls" but that is so, so sexist. What do you call it?

I think controls sounds right, I’m pretty sure “helm” is just for ships. Controls isn’t really sexist cos a woman can be a pilot too :)

“At the helm” is not entirely incorrect in that it‘s a colloquial term generally used to refer to being in charge.

    Other acceptable terms are:
At the controls (there’s nothing sexist nor sexually-related nor gender-related about it), at the throttle, behind the joystick, in the captain’s seat, in the captain’s chair, in the cockpit, at the con, on point, taking the point, headin’ up the posse, headin’ up the cattle drive, riding first chair, in the saddle, leading the charge, calling the shots, quarterbacking, etc.

It was in May 2014 when I flew down to Nashville for my nephew's wedding.

It was.  We had a great time at the wedding and got to experience some of Nashville while we were there.

Nice,  I’m glad you had a good time. I’ve heard Nashville is a great place to visit but I’ve not been... yet :)

We weren't there that long, but we did take in a few of the night spots.  The music is great.

Yeah, me too, peering down there watching huge herds of Mammoth migrating across the vast, endless plain.
