He likes big numbers.  His goal is - 2,000 by election day, 5,000 by Thanksgiving and 10,000 before the end of the year.

(trump  - "the more deaths there are, the higher the stock market goes.  Prosperity for all.")

WHAT? Is that an accurate quote? How does that compute Shuhak? I should think the opposite would hold true. Don't you? Thank you for your reply! :)

You used quotes. Did duck say that or not? Did you put words in his mouth or was that what he said?. I'm confused. Thank you for your reply Shuhak and Happy Tuesday! :)

When you put something in quotes it means something Shuhak. It means you are quoting exact words of another. So employing that as a means of sarcastic humor is very confusing since you are ignoring what quotation marks mean and that m'dear is unfair. Why do you do that? Thank you for your reply.  Just as putting things in CAPS indicates SHOUTING. Sigh. Whatever. This post was edited by RosieG at November 3, 2020 2:31 PM MST

    We get it.

But generally speaking, if we see a declarative sentence enclosed in quotation marks, we will assume with with a 95% confidence level that it is a direct quote.

Edit:  if you had phrased it in similar prose as the first sentence, we would have known immediately what you were doing. This post was edited by tom jackson at November 4, 2020 1:42 AM MST

    I cede.

Grammatically speaking, I used them properly.  Quotation marks can be used to signify someone speaking - even if that person is fictional.  I didn't capitalize the first word, which is required for a direct quote.

Oh, well... c'est la vie This post was edited by Shuhak at November 4, 2020 7:31 PM MST

Not if the direct quote is part of what someone said...

"......ours is but to do or die". The dots indicate that other words precede it. If I were quoting the entire line it would be "Ours is not to wonder why ours is but to do or die". Look Shuhak. I'm the last one who has any right to question anything anyone says. I play with language all the time so you play with quotations. It's a draw.

Only in the context of the fictional character existing as a fictional character in a given work---because in that fictional work, he has "existence."

(And yes, that's another proper use of quotation marks.)

Edit: But, bottom line is that we all understand what you were trying to do. This post was edited by tom jackson at November 5, 2020 10:05 AM MST

What His Royal Orangeness has done is ACTUALLY murder in the second degree. Firing the NSC's pandemic team and ignoring the playbook that Obama/Biden wrote (in response to H1N1 and ebola) demonstrates "a reckless disregard for the life of others".
    Lock him up.

Not fired the department was merged with another department.
Joe's Chief of Staff says they did everything wrong....so yes throw that rule book out.  If H1N1 was as deadly as Covid millions would have died.

Interesting that he carelessly/unwittingly causes all these deaths then he accuses doctors of making money from people dying from coronavirus. Kickbacks?
