    Leonardo Dicaprio in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape"

    When I saw the movie, I was unfamiliar with Dicaprio as an actor and I thought the film producers had hired a young guy who actually had the challenges Dicaprio portrays - - it remains my favorite Dicaprio performance. Incredibly honest and real - - overall, a great movie to me, too.

    I think you might be right. I'm unsure.
    I've spent a lot of my 'career' or whatever working with people with similar characteristics as the role Dicaprio portrays. And to that young Dicaprio's huge credit, I believed him all the way. One of my favorite portrayals of anyone in any movie I've seen.

    (I'd do well to take time and watch the movie again -- the "movie moves" me.)

    I wholeheartedly agree with you again.

    What a performance! I'd put his performance up against most anyone of any age and I bet I'd still see his performance as incredibly superior.
