Are you holding your breath for Trump to call off the insurrection at the Capitol building?

Trump is reveling in the chaos he caused.  I would like to know where are all those National Guardsmen who are supposed to keep the protesters in check?  Storming the Capitol should be a felony punished by a VERY long prison term and include all those who elected officials who refused to accept a peaceful transition of power.  This is absolutely disgusting and this is not MY America.  We are the laughing stock of the world and no better than a Banana Republic.

I agree anyone and everyone who stormed the Capital should be arrested and charged with treason.

Because it's not a state, the President had to call out the guard. He waited quite a long time to do, I imagine someone had to twist his arm.

I'm sure he didn't do it voluntarily.

If I understand what I just heard correctly, Pence and the DOD managed to work around him and he was not involved.

A good thing, but it never should have been allowed to get this far.  I'm sure you would agree.

Trump sent the National Guard.  Not Pence or anyone else.

And I'll bet you think he should get a medal for doing that.

So, how long did the governors of Oregon, Minnesota, et. al., wait to call out their National Guards to put down the riots that occurred in their states?  Oh, that's right.  They never did and I never saw any of the people who are now criticizing Trump condemn them for their inaction as their cities burned and were looted.  The double standard here is disgusting.  Those of you on the left should be ashamed of yourselves,. but I know you that don't care.  All you care about getting your people into power.

Let me be clear here.  I condemn ALL of those who use violence to further their political ends.  I don't care who commits the violence, whether they be leftist or right-winger.  All who use violence to push a political agenda should be prosecuted, period.

This never should have happened but it's also not an isolated event. But I have to say, where was everyone when Antifa decided to make themselves known? Where was everyone when they attacked, looted, burned, destroyed private property? Attacked the police and burned their cars? Where was everyone when Antifa decided to burn Portland to the ground? The Never Trumpers were quiet. They were just fine with it. They were also quiet while the Constitution was being shredded.

Oh but this protest/march got instant coverage because it was carried out by Trump supporters. I would imagine the socialist Left is wringing their hands and cackling with delight about this. The Republican party isn't much better because it has been compromised. They, for the most part, sold out just like the Democrats have.

I have witnessed this sort of asinine, adolescent political behavior for years. This is why I never embraced the Democrat or a Republican party. I am however a patriot that still loves this country and still loves the Constitution. Unfortunately, this country is broken. So what happens now? If anyone thinks Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are going to waltz into the office and straighten out this mess are in for a very rude awakening. Do you honestly think that they care about the citizens?

I don't pretend to know exactly what's going to happen to America but frankly, its future looks quite bleak unless something drastic happens. Another Revolution? Third world country? Total collapse? From what I've witnessed, many of America's citizens aren't much better than the anti-American politicians they follow and endorse. The malevolent hatred they display makes a person shudder. Perhaps the bottom line here is that we will get, not what we want but what we deserve for our behavior.

One of the senators speaking in the debate on the Arizona electoral vote challenge said that the Capitol has been attacked twice in American history, once during the War of 1812 and once today. Both times, people were carrying flags in support of a monarchic individual - the king of England then and President Trump today. Make no mistake, what happened today was the end result of having elected a demagogic man and wannabe dictator who considers himself a ruler above all rather than a public servant of the people. The attempted violent overthrow of the United States government today is causing politicians on both sides of the aisle to finally see through Trump's attempt to subvert our democracy and the rest of his bullsh*t. I think there might be just a bit of difference between Antifa rioting in Portland and Trump's henchmen storming the Capitol.

You do know ANTIFA was there right....dressed as Trump supporters.  There is video of some of them trying to break a window  with a weapon and the people hollering that is ANTIFA before another person takes them down.

Will not let me post it here...not on youtube.

No need he already called for peace...more than once.  I am breathing fine.

He is not who called for the violence on so he would not be calling it off. This post was edited by my2cents at January 7, 2021 4:04 PM MST

And after this, we're going to walk down there, and I'll be there with you, we're going to walk down ... to the Capitol and we are going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women," Trump told the crowd. "And we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them. Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong."

"We will never give up. We will never concede. It doesn't happen. You don't concede when there's theft involved," Trump said. "Our country has had enough. We're not going to take it anymore."

It is abundantly clear that the nuances of the English language are not understood.  Unless Trump said, "March down to the Capitol, storm the building, break windows, invade the interior, and generally be violent," then he did not incite anything.

The protest was a MARCH.  So yes, we would expect people to walk there.
