    If by this you mean a true bell (percussion instrument) and not an electronic tone, then on New Years Day.  No, I didn't ring it.  The Methodist Church downtown rang the bells in their bell tower to welcome the new year.

    (I haven't rung a real bell since late October)

    I can't recall the last time I heard a bell rung which means I wasn't the one to ring it. :)

    The next bell I hear will be the you are out bell.   I am not capable of what she wants.  The show is over, I am out and totally finished with this whole mess.     My door-bell so no, I didn't ring it.

    One of my friends would not be too happy to be asked this.

    She's the "Tower Captain" (team leader) of her local church bell-ringers, and I don't think they've been able to ring since the start of the first lock-down in March last year. Probably not even when things were eased last Autumn, because, she told me, the ropes in their ringing-chamber are less than two metres apart.

    At this rate it will seem strange - but a very welcome sign of somewhere near normal life - when we start again hearing the complex change peals from churches up and down the country.  The ringers will be out of practice of course. It's not something you can practice at home; and they typically meet to practice one evening a week.
