What's your home remedy for an itchy, or scratchy throat? Whooping cough?

  • Gargle with dissolved aspirin ... Keep it on the back of your throat as long as possible ... It works locally .. and it really does work :)

    They also help with sore throats. I think it's one of those things that produces a psychological effect as well.

    Slippery elm bark. Just chew it and swallow the thick juices. Spit out the pulp.

    Unfortunately the real stuff is no longer available (the government is protecting us from ourselves, again) but extract lozenges are.

    It's apparently good for a lot of other stuff too.

    Gargling with warm salt water works for a sore throat, but I don't know of a home remedy for whooping cough.  That's something that should have been eradicated with DPT shots.
