Exactly how deep must one dig a makeshift final resting place in order that it won’t be considered a “shallow” grave?

[Of course, I’m just asking this for a friend who has no internet access due to a court order. I do not personally involve myself in those types of activities. (Cough, cough.)]

Seems like four feet would be deep enough.

  • I think 1,5 metres is the minimum depth that is recommended for a grave.

That’s very good to know. You realize, of course, that this now makes you an accomplice.

  • I'm tired now.  It's your turn to dig.  Who's in that trash bag?

I can’t keep track of all the different trash bags and who is in which one! It’s been a busy week, you know! Ok, I’ll take over the digging, but you have to trade places with me and be the lookout. I don’t want another Park Ranger stumbling upon us like that last time. Grrrrrrr.

To pass the information along to my friend.

Ah, that friend. Well, say hi to that friend for me - and tell him that, just for the record, I vigorously turn over my vegetable patch each and every spring, and were I to find someone quietly decomposing there who wasn't actually paying rent, there'd be hell to pay (if the scenario plays out as feared, my accountant will provide you, the accessory before the fact, all the necessary details, to pass on to your friend, including that small bonus for yours truly in consideration of his keeping his mouth shut).

I’m just an intermediary, I’ve been granted full immunity in return for cooperating with the investigation.

Just deep enough to prevent wildlife from digging it up.

That’s what I’m my friend is asking, how many feet down?

6 feet with a concrete slab on top so the coffin will not come to the surface in a heavy rain and animals will not be able to dig them up.

Concrete slab, coffin?  You’re sort of new at this, it really shows.
