  • The advantage is knowing how it feels when others want.
    It's a good starting point for empathy and altruism.
    It can also be a motivator.

  • Having makes us complacent, whereas wanting keeps us alert.
    Having results in passive acceptance, whereas wanting results in proactiveness to "go for it".
    BUT
    Unsatisfied wants keep us in a state of discontent, and shift our focus away from the priorities that really matter.
