"Poor Americans are country's most CHARITABLE demographic". They donate more PER CAPITA than higher income brackets. WHY IS THAT?

It seems odd to me but I guess it's because the poor are more loving kind considerate.

What else could it be?

I have learned to take a compliment in the spirit it was given and just say, "Thank you."  I'm not suspicious of the intent unless it's from a man with a leer and one eyebrow up. :):) :)

I was so shocked and also kinda hurt when she said that. I expect she is not unique so maybe others think that way too? Sad that. Thank you for your reply. Life used to be simpler. I think. People would take one enother as they were without imputing all kinds of ugly on them. These days? Well anything goes. We know the uglies are out to eliminate the rest of us. Will they succeed? I don't know. I'm old enough to probably not have to suffer them for very long if they take over. One good thing about being way old. You got nuthin' to lose by standing up and telling them to go to he**! :)

I believe people have become more suspicious of one another these days.  Used to be, you could count on most people being civil and honest without ulterior motives, but that changed somewhere along the line.  I don't know when or why, but it has.  I assume someone is sincere until/unless they prove to be otherwise.  Yes, aging has its advantages.  I can't wait to be old enough to hit someone with a cane and all that happens is that folks will say, "Well, she's an old crone."

I'm already there sweetie. It's great fun! I get written off a lot I expect. Know what? I don't give a dam*! My thing is asking questions that occur to me. That's really all I want. It's icing (real whipped cream) on the cake when people respond but if they never did I'd still be asking. If I don't ask my brain will explode from overcrowding of unasked questions. So on my own all alone leave me alone to ask. IGNORE me completely. Not why I'm here. To make a splash? No. Just to rid myself of the annoying questions I ask because when illogic takes over in the world and becomes the SOP I gotta say something. It's as simple as that! Thank you for your reply! :) This post was edited by RosieG at March 10, 2021 6:09 AM MST

I'm not quite there yet, but I'm getting closer every day. :)  Your questions are "you."  Be yourself, everyone else is taken. :)  Happy Wednesday. :)

Hahahahahahahaha! That's funnee hunnee. "Be yourself, everyone else is taken." :) I've never wanted to be anyone else but I have greatly admired others for being/having what I lack. Grace. Patience. Dignity. I just let it all hang out as I've gotten older and really don't care one whit about appearances. Of course there is always a price to pay when you let yourself go like that but so far I can afford it! No appetite to change it. Thank you for your reply L! :)

I admire people who have patience with others; I'm trying to grow old gracefully; and I've always maintained my dignity (OK once I didn't) and I do admire those qualities in others along with intellect and kindness.

Don't you know you are ONE of them? PATIENCE is your foundation as far as I can see. You do know that about yourself don't you? Thank you for your reply L! :)

You wouldn't have said that if you had seen me at thebig box store today.  Woman in front of me was almost finished with her items.  Then she started to dig in her huge tote bag for her coupons.  Spent five minutes arguing with the cashier because one of the coupons must have been expired and she insisted he take it anyway.  Then she dug in her bag for her money.  Then she dug in her bag for the exact change.  Then she stood there putting all the bills in the right order in her wallet.  I had five items and the guy on the line to my left had a cart chock full of items and he was out the door before me.  When I got to the door, she was still standing there reviewing her receipt.  I told her that she should be ashamed of herself for being so inconsiderate of the people on line behind her.  Her response was, "I should be ashamed, but I'm not."  So I told her she was too stupid to be ashamed.

You DID? You didn't did you? YOU? Now why am I giggling? I think as it flows through my mind's eye it must have been hilarious to watch and listen to too! Now THAT TAKES GUTS! The most I have ever done is apologize to the cashier for the terrible treatment she was accorded by the guy in front of me. But I waited till he was out of earshot! In addition to everything else you are one very brave gal! I mean these days how do you know whether someone will pull a gun out of a purse and shoot you? There is very little humor in that statement my friend. You look at someone crosseyed and BANG. So many weaponized crackpots out there in all sizes. That was very bold and daring and please don't do it again.  No joking this time L. SIGH. Isn't that sad that nowadays anyone at any time can be "blitzed" for any reason? Thank you for your reply sweetie. Hopefully there won't be another occasion to unleash that part of you. I'm really not joking about that. In that purse she could have had a loaded gun. :(

Well, I didn't do it in front of the other customers.  I did it as I was exiting the store while she was still inventorying her purse and I doubt anyone heard me.  She was an older lady, so I didn't think she had a gun in that tote bag.  I do realize that these days you never know who's going to do what, so I do mind my tongue almost all of the time, but this woman was so oblivious to others that I couldn't help myself.

You were safe THAT time sweetie. I don't know how many more crackpot men there are than crackpot women. I'll ask. Just remember there are more brazen weaponized domestic violent white supremacists around these days who are just itching to murder. Am I a bit paranoid? I don't know. I sure hope so. it could be worse than I fear too. Food for thought. Thank you for your reply L! :) This post was edited by RosieG at March 19, 2021 8:47 AM MDT

I understand, but this was a little old lady who I seriously doubted had a weapon in her enormous tote bag.  And, if she did, considering how long it took her to find her coupons and her money, I figured I could run away before she found the gun. :)

Well there are a lot of redneck old dames who are always weaponized sweetie and just looking for a reason to use them. I'm sure there are a lot of the MA BARKERS around who can shoot like a sniper and always hit the target. You cannot tell these days who is "normaL" and who is FOOTOO crackpot nutjob. Until or unless they open their mouths. Thank you for your reply L! :)

True, but here in New York where we have stringent gun control laws, it's less likely. :)

From your lips L. From your lips. Think New Yorkers will ever vote for a Republican gubner or Republican mare for The City? I can't imagine it. I know California used to be a bastion of Republican in the olden days. Now it is a very blue state. I cannot imagine my living in a red state. We have pockets of repubbaccans in California almost at the brink of extinction. Sometimes they flock together with their MAGA hat and I almost barf having to endure the crap that comes out of their mouths. Sometimes when waiting rooms were filled with patients you'd hit on one. MY GAWD they all speak from the same script! Thank you for your reply L! :)

I would be surprised if NYC went Red.  I must tell you that the current crop of candidates for mayor here is less than thrilling.  I can't say I really like any of them.  I keep wondering who could be worse then Mayor Di Blasio, but I'm not sure any of the candidates are any better.  Upstate is more Red.  They think they're paying for us Dowstaters when it's really the opposite.

New York is a very complicated state which I don't have to tell you. Take Montana! A 10-piece puzzle. New York? 10,000 pieces! So you lives with the hand dealt to you. Who was the best Mayor of New York City and best Governor of New York State in your opinion L? Did they used to be a whole lot smarter, kinder, fair? Thank you for your reply! :)

The poorest know what it is to receive charity so don't hesitate to give when in their turn they are able.

Some disadvantaged are very giving as you say...they know what it is like. Others get very angry hostile and close up. I've never understood that at all. If you have been a target of hate why would you pay if forward? Makes no sense to me at all. Thank you for your reply Malizz and Happy Thursday to thee and thine. :)
