I guess if you rely on something and get used to it's being there when you need it it's hard to adjust and do without! Thank you for your reply Malizz. What does it feel like? I gather you have diabetes right? Don't you always carry something on you to munch on if you need it? Sorry for inquisition. I'm just concerned. Like my son is anaphylactic so if he inadvertently gets anything walnutty including walnut oil dressing a salad he has an Epi pen on him at all times so he give himself a shot. Having a sugary snack always at hand is necessary for you? Thank you for your reply! :)

Yes I should have a sweet snack on me and resolved to do so afterwards. However near hypos are rare for me and I easily backslide.

As for the feeling, I was faced with this hill and suddenly did not feel like going up it. Shortly I did not even feel like walking home. My options were - a modest distance to the petrol station and shop, chap on my friends door, or find out if a bus was due. The last worked out best. At home I found my sugar was just above hypo.

I'm so sorry Malizz. It must be very frightening to never know in advance what's going on in your body. Don't they have monitors now that give you instant reads painlessly? Of course  you should always have a small can of juice or candy bar on you just in case, right?. I don't really understand how it works. That is to say you must always try to balance your intake and sometimes if you don't do it properly you could be in jeopardy. It's like walking a tightrope it seems to me. I suppose it isn't feasible for you to always have a companion with you? A pal or relative or neighbor to accompany you? Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday to you and yours! :)

There are worse than me. I can still get away without a rigid diet.  I suspect my brother has worse complications than me and his wife has type 1 which is harder to manage.

The idea of a companion appeals so that the authorities don't have to take over if I fall ill. I'll be socialising like mad when things reopen, not that I'm very good at dating. It took 40 years to get the first wife.

Oh m'dear you don't know how sweet what you wrote is.. Showing vulnerability and modesty is very appealing. It can happen. Jim and I became friends at first when I was almost 60 and he was almost 62. Trust me. Just be you and don't be surprised if you find a pal a friend a boon companion. Really all you have to do is be yourself and be open to it! For you it would be like going to the beach and swimming in the ocean. NEVER DO IT ALONE. ALWAYS PAIR UP so if you get in trouble someone is there or he/she gets in trouble you're there. Hiking too. I really think folks who go hiking should not go alone. I have a very good feeling about your situation. I do.  Take care meanwhile and maybe you won't have to look at all. Maybe your companion will find YOU! Thank you for your reply Malizz! :)
