Is landscaping that important?

My wife thinks it is...it's her money.

My brother thinks it is. It's his job.

It makes the street view more appealing, especially if you're looking to sell your house and enhances the value of the home, if done well.  Personally, I wish I had a garden, but our co-op does the landscaping (and considering the dolt that does it, I use the word loosely).

It's important to me, I've worked hard for my house and I want it to look good.
