It sounds despicably horrible to me. A vile way to put people down. Calling them "unclean". Thank you for your reply m2c. But people are generally vile when they depict those they are told they MUST HATE. I'd ask WHY but there is no logical reason.

Actually the untouchables are a non-caste group whom the rest may not touch or associate with. The caste system is slowly giving way to a more progressive society, particularly in the cities (more than a few of my work colleagues are from India). It was officially abolished in 1950, but still affects some parts of society, mainly in rural areas where traditions are more cherished.
