Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Are you allowed to take guns to your polling place on Election Day? Any restrictions against it if you are in an open carry state? What/why?
No, the polling place where I live is the county courthouse. It's illegal where I live to carry a gun, concealed or not to a courthouse unless you're a judge or court employee.
Positively not. Since polling places are often, government buildings, schools and churches, such is not allowed and rightfully so, at least not here. To attempt to bring a weapon into a courthouse or government facility unless you happen to be law enforcement personnel, is a felony. Unfortunately, recent history has shown that armed thugs can in fact turn people away from polling places in some areas of the country.
