    It has been hot enough it gave me a message saying it would not charge until the temp decreased.

    Same thing happened to me, about a year ago. I laid it on the dashboard of my vehicle and it overheated in the sun.

    YES, and the cause was the battery. It got all "puffy" and made it impossible for the backing of the cell phone to stay on. I purchased another battery, but at that point, the phone just stopped working. I'm a bit wary of Samsung phones now and have no idea if the same sort of issue has been fixed.
