    The use of high heels on footwear is conducive to not getting killed while riding horseback. Those high heels keep the foot from slipping all the way through the stirrup and consequently causing the rider to be drug along by the horse (and hitting the old noggin on EVERY rock along the way) should the they lose their "seating".
