President Obama has been warning Republicans for years about the dangers of their crazy right-wing rhetoric and obstructionism.

Now they've gone and nominated Trump and are seeing their chickens come home to roost as he and his campaign are falling flat on their faces.

“For years,” President Obama said in Las Vegas, “Republican politicians and the far-right media outlets have pumped up all kinds of crazy stuff about me, about Hillary, about Harry [Reid]. They said I wasn’t born here. They said climate change is a hoax. They said that I was going to take everybody’s guns away.

There are a lot of politicians who knew better. There are a lot of senators who knew better. But they went along with these stories because they figured, you know what, this will help rile up the base, it will give us an excuse to obstruct what we’re trying to do, we won’t be able to appoint judges, we’ll gum up the works, we’ll create gridlock, it will give us a political advantage. So they just stood by and said nothing. And their base began to actually believe this crazy stuff.

So Donald Trump did not start this. He just did what he always did, which is slap his name on it, take credit for it, and promote it. That’s what he does. And so now when suddenly it’s not working, and people are saying, wow, this guy is kind of out of line, all of a sudden, these Republican politicians who were okay with all this crazy stuff up to a point, suddenly they’re all walking away. “Oh, this is too much.” … Well, what took you so long? What the heck?"

All of this will now cost some of them their jobs in an election they could have won, and it could cost the GOP control of the Senate and /or the House of Representatives. Let's hope that on the way out, they don't let the door hit 'em where God split 'em!

So what do Moi, Transquesta, and our other usual suspects have to say now? The truth hurts, doesn't it?

    Hello Stu:

Common wisdom says that you get the government you deserve..  If you apply that principle to the primary's, the Republicans got the candidate they DESERVE, and he's DESTROYING their party.  It kinda looks like suicide, doesn't it?

And you think Hil-LIAR-y is a plumb? Looks like both parties are in competition to come up with the worst possible candidate.

You were doing good until that last paragraph.  Are you serious?  You care what THEY say?     Are you really that bored?   WHO cares?  They are the top of the heap when it comes to what you described concerning being warned and not listening.  That is how they think so why do you think this little blub is going to change anything?

President Obama also said that my healthcare costs would be going down by 25%, that I could keep my doctor, that he had shovel-ready jobs for all that "economic stimulus" money that ended up being stolen from the taxpayers and channeled to his political contributors . . . the list of his lies is longer than the Yellow Brick Road. (Got any examples of where he told the truth about something?)

So, given his track record why should anyone believe this little fairy-tale? "Pinocchio" Obama is still spreading the tall tales.

Yeah that is what he said.  Then the Republicans spent the next 4 years dismantling everything he put into place.  There is a psycho here but it is not Obama.  It is the one who keeps attacking Obama for what his preferred party did to Obama.     One person cannot act against a whole body of cretins.  That was his tragic error.  He seriously thought that he could SHOW them (Tea Party)  he was right.   What he didn't GET is that they don't want him to BE right.  Never did.  And the whole country suffered from it.  They don't care, as long as they can get people talking about Obama and his flawed policies. and how incompetent he and his ideas are.   Who cares if the whole nation suffers.  It is worth it to them as long as they do not have to change a thing and they can sit back and destroy anything good that contradicts their sick greed.

Well, we are usually at opposite corners when it comes to political views.  What you said up top was well done in my humble estimation.

OK, thanks! Much of it came from his speech.

And exactly what have the Republicans dismantled of Obama's? Got any real, non-rhetorical examples?

They "lost" almost every effort to challenge Obamacare in the Courts and on the floor of Congress. They could have used "the power of the purse" to shut it down; but no, that didn't happen. (Maybe the reason it wasn't stopped is that both sides of the aisle, "the Establishment", managed to profit handsomely from Obamacare, what with that insider trading knowledge and all.)  Obamacare stands as passed and it's now a dismal failure. None of that's on the "front" that the Republican party projects no matter what you choose to see, or think.

As to the Taxed Enough Already movement . . . just how much more in taxes do you think people should be paying to support those that chose not to work? (And let's not deny the government parasites', I mean "workers" of their "cut" as that money passes through their hands.)

No, it's not sick greed that you oppose. It's those that chose to work hard to get ahead that you can't stand, (making you look bad, perhaps?) That, and a psychotic worship of the God of Big Government.

Rhetorical?  GUILTY.  I admit I am getting away with saying very little these days.  But I figure you have had them (these examples) handed to you by me and everyone else on here for the past several months if not years by now.

So, what do you want me to do?  Take the time?  I can't.  You don't hear me anyway.  I have to do a job interview today (IT SUCKS TO BE ME) and I need to come back to this, but since you are listening, I will attempt to re-engage this convo.

That is if I can find the damn thing after today.  This site blows that way.  You are right, I said little FOR NOW.

You always say very little. It's just now you're using fewer words to say it. ;>)

And a job interview? So what? Fun stuff (NOT)! This post was edited by Salt and Red Pepper at October 26, 2016 12:43 PM MDT
