Do parents of your culture prefer sons or daughters?

Parents of my culture overwhelmingly prefer sons, mostly to carry on the family name

    That is why I wanted a son. Then he has two daughters and gets snipped. Oh, I have a daughter, too.

    He never said so, but I'm sure my dad would have liked at least one of his four kids to be a boy.

    I don't think there is a prevalent preference.   Personally, after having one girl I wanted my second baby to also be a girl.
