Since humans are genetically quite similar to bananas doesn't that give some kind of evidence for common ancestry?

The DNA is simply because both humans and bananas were created to live on earth and are both carbon products.

No, it does not suggest humans and bananas are related through ancestry.

Humans also consist of the same elements as dirt.  Are we dirt? This post was edited by my2cents at June 15, 2021 3:18 PM MDT

Adam was formed from clay from the ground so I guess there is still a bit of dirt in all his descendants.

All people are made of those same elements.

WHAT? WE ARE "genetically quite similar to bananas"? OKAY Kg. Lay it on me. What other "things" are we genetically "quite similar to"? Honestly I read that and cracked up completely. Once I composed myself I could answer a question you did not ask me specifically but here I am anyway. Apologies. So bananas? That would account for so many of us "going bananas" then right? :)

Humans share genes with all living species but it just seems odd that we share so many genes with the banana specie.

Well a banana would not be the fruit I'd relate too necessarily. Maybe coconuts. Hard nut to crack but once you get inside it delicious? Thank you for your reply Kg!:)
