As the 100-year time span rolled on, several different crimes were attributed with that label, one that I read about as a young child was the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby in the 1930s, another was the 1953 trial, conviction and execution of Julius and Rosenberg, the 1963 assassination of President Kennedy, then when I was older it was the disappearance of labor figure Jimmy Hoffa in 1975, and just in 1994, the dual murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. These aren’t the only big cases that were called the crime of the century, just a few examples.
