Yes and no. My mom was always very competitive with me and not in a nice way. I was afraid I'd be the same if I had a daughter, so I never wanted to have one and find out. As soon as I found out I was pregnant with my middle child, I knew she was a girl and, although I kept the worry until after she was born, she is exactly who I'd want her to be.
Children should be a GREAT pleasure. Nothing is more life confirming than giving birth to a healthy child. They deserve all the love we can give them. Their sex should be of no importance.
Btw, the desire was there, a healthy kid. Having kids without desire is not fair towards them.

I've always wondered what it would be like or would have been like to have a daughter, what kind of father I would have been to one, and what kind of father-daughter relationship we would have had.
(Listen, is there a spare room or two at your place? I can have them packed up and on the next plane out of here. No one has to know, we'll keep it between ourselves.) ~
