    That's just not right, I live in the land of New England clam chowder and no self-respecting New Englander would ever use fat- free half and half.

    Best NE chowder I had contained no dairy at all. Water, clams, salt pork, onions, potatoes.  Some enrich the broth with with lobster or clam shells etc. Delish!

    We call that Rhode Island clam chowder... clear broth.

    Well Rhode Island was always part of New England though have never had it there.  In CT and MA yes.
