To the fully vaccinated. Any of your family/friends who refuse to be vaccinated against COVID? D'ya still hang out with them or stay away?

Why?

  • Fortunately, all of our friends and family have been vaccinated.  The only exception is our 11 year old grandson.  He turns 12 in August and will be vaccinated then.

When we're inside a public building ... we continue to wear our masks.  We have little to no contact with unvaccinated people.

    Have a great day Rosie!

Hi honey! So it's about 6am in Virginia right? I'm glad to hear that. I was shocked when I went to Chase Bank on Wednesday B. There were about 6 UNMASKED customers! Now Governor Newsom issued a state-wide order a couple of days ago to mask in doors. I don't get it! Why people won't comply with requirements to keep them alive! Oh well we mask and social distance and limit going out. The Delta Variant is a lot more contagious but now they are saying it is also more dangerous. Swell! Stay safe, stay cool and stay just they way you are! Happy Friday to thee and thine! :) ((hugs)) This post was edited by RosieG at July 30, 2021 8:06 AM MDT

  • You're right about the time here Rosie.
Over the past month, I have seen very few people wearing masks in stores.  The mask requirement was lifted .. except for unvaccinated people.  That "honor system" is not working IMO.  I have a feeling masks will again be required due to the Delta variant which is why we continue to wear our masks.  A good side benefit is that we haven't had a cold since we started wearing them.
Our weather hasn't been too bad .. certainly not as hot as on the West Coast.
Have a great day and weekend!!  Hugs to you too.

Thanks sweetie. All we have to do is to keep doing what we have been doing! Easy peasy, right? :)

I have a nephew, a niece and my brother who are not. We were going to have a large family cookout this weekend, but there is so much drama with my sister's family over vaxes that we have postponed it or possibly will just cancel.

Earlier we were told it spreads faster but is no more dangerous. NOT TRUE. STAY SAFE. TAKE CARE. Thank you for your reply E! OMG. Where do we go from here?

Thanks. Now that we know the Delta variant is "breaking through" in larger numbers I have no idea what lies ahead. :(

I think we're just going to cancel, except for my sister and her husband.

One of my nephews refuses to get vaccinated.   His wife had to get it in order to work, but he doesn't care.  From the beginning of this pandemic they lived/acted as if the virus never existed.
They are not invited to any family functions.

Oh dear Shuhak. This Delta variant is "breaking through" and the fully vaccinated are getting it. Does the newphew know that? Turns out that Delta IS more dangerous. We were told up front it was far more contagious but not more dangerous. Now "they" tell us it is. We can get it and pass it on and never even know it. Or we may get it and experience milder symptoms but few of the breakthroughs have to be hospitalize and I don't think any of them have died from it or even needed to be ventilated. Which means what we feared is true. WE ARE ALL SUSCEPTIBLE to getting it thanks to the anti vax folks. We will keep doing what we have been doing and hope it's enough! Thank you for your reply Shuhak! Yesterday again it got up 107 here! I hope you still are somewhat cooler in your area. :)

It reached 98 here yesterday despite cloudy/smoky skies.  It should be close to the same temperature today.  However, the sky here is actually blue today (with clouds).

Well Saturday got up to 105 and I expect the same will be true for today Shuhak. I think you know every morning I start off my computer time by looking up the 8-day forecast for Jim which I write down in a little book. Today (Sunday August 1) this is what we have to look forward to: 102 106 106 104 102 98 95 94. Once again thank goodness for air conditioning! So far though our skies are clear. Of course we aren't going out in it but it's nice to look out and see blue skies. For how long? Who knows? Thank you for your reply! ::)

AZ is contraindicated for anybody under 60. Moderna hasn't been approved by the TGA. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at August 2, 2021 2:02 AM MDT

I only know a couple of cousins who got the shot.
(Aside from the close relative who got the shot and passed shortly after the 2nd dose).

To my knowledge no one else plans to get it.   The vaxxed cousins attended a recent family function. So they did not care.

If the vax works why would you care?  This post was edited by my2cents at July 31, 2021 5:51 AM MDT

I don't know of any of my friends and relatives old enough to be vaccinated, having refused it; though one of my nephews, in his 20s, apparently thinks or thought the whole thing fiction.
