  • I can't remember the last time I was at or in a bank. You might as well take them, since you are paying for them anyway

My bank is too cheap to give anything away and stealing a pen would be bank robbery.

They even try to charge you if you are standing under THEIR awnings when it's raining.

Mine too. They have a bowl full of them and you can help yourself. I must have 5 of them scattered about the house.

I walk away with pens because I am a space head.  I don't swipe anything on purpose.   I leave school and I have other people's books in my bag half the time.  I am not really glued to objects very well.  They come with me or are left behind quite frequently.   I have to go back in my house at least 3 times before I venture from my door, because I leave things I need behind like clockwork.   Yesterday, I left my clock.  I needed that and even left the damn clock.

I don't swipe them from banks or other buildings, but I do pick them up when I find them in the street. I have dozens of pens that people have thrown away, and they still write. I have thought about giving some of them away, especially to places where others have swiped them.

I don't think they give them away like they used to.  I seem to have a credit union pen in my car.  I felt a little guilty when I saw it, but it is a very good writing pen so I made the difficult decision of keeping it in the console.  I thought I could return it in the night deposit when it runs dry.

Banks expect and hope their customers walk off with their pens.  That's why they have their names on them.  After all, it's free walking advertisement.
