Many things have a "use by" "best by" "sell by" "discard by" date. Why doesn't a WAR?

Before we engage in a war let us decide on the end date. That might cause us to fight them differently.

At work your projects ALWAYS HAVE DEADLINES they must be DONE BY OR ELSE.

Why not make war just another OR ELSE?

What is the OR ELSE for war? OR ELSE we just stop and go home. Why not? What could it hurt? What's a good shelf-life for WAR?

I have an even better idea.  How about before we engage in a war, let's make sure that it is being entered into because of a direct effect on OUR country and that we are willing to go all out and win it, not just putz around for two decades, lose thousands of American soldiers and then leave with our tails between our legs.

Maybe that might be the way to end all wars or rather never start one. If we were to employ those considerations how long would it take to come to an agreed-upon path and by then the possibility would have moved on?. What could it hurt to try? Thank you for your reply L and Happy Monday to thee and thine! :)
