I sure hope not. Texas just isn't Texas anymore without the bat-crap nuttiness we know it for. I mean, it's like that crazy racist Great Uncle in the family everyone puts up with because his epically insane rants give the rest of the family fodder to snicker at and mock. All while reminding you what happens if you entertain those darker feelings inside you. and what you don't want to be.

@S, Indeed! That's where the news is coming in from. Seems the Democrats are really rallying down here. I think Donald made a mistake trashing the Mexicans and Muslims. People may not know that there is much assimilation here in Texas. Anglos are married to Hispanics----both men and women. It's not unusual to see blonde kids named Maria or Jose. There are also many black people married to white people, especially in the cities. Texas also registered about 4,000 Muslims to vote. Ha!
Texas has had one of the highest Muslim populations in the US. The rednecks too, are Democrats. The Bushes live here too. They are supporting Hillary.
History indicates as states become more urbanized and multi-ethnic, the population tends to support left-Democratic politicians and policies.
In fact, the Red State/Blue State construct is something of a canard. What we actually have are Blue urban areas surrounded by vast exurban/rural (but relatively sparsely populated) Red areas. The degree to which states are Blue or Red largely depends on the ratio of urban-to-rural population.
Texas is no more immune to this phenomenon than Nevada, Iowa (one of the earliest states to legalize gay marriage), Virginia, North Carolina, etc.
