Actually, most Democrats can be from blue collar areas. So, let's just say they are more civilized and don't need to color their necks and would rather wear the shirt.
Red/republican blue/democrat is a very new concept. Only in the past 10-15 years has the terminology been used. Redneck is an old term and has nothing to do with politics. A redneck was a rural person from the southern flatlands where most people farmed. You had hillbillies in the mountains and rednecks in flats. Now they are kinda lumped together but once upon a time they each kinda used the terms against each other and at were at odds.
