Have you seen this movie?

"How To Make an American Quilt"

(I was with friends; I got completely outvoted on the movie we would watch; they all wanted to see this one and I didn't;  I ended up being the only one who liked it, ha!)

And Thomas Newman's entire music score is lovely to me

'Quilting Theme'    less than two minutes, give it a listen  ;)

I’ve seen every movie with Winona Ryder in it I think. I loved her when I was a kid. I liked this movie too:)

I like Ryder, too, in anything I've seen her in. I've not seen a lot, I don't think.
But this movie really pleasantly surprised me with how much I liked it. I like when that happens -- when a movie gets me to like it when I least expect it to.

    :)

You really want to hurt this young man, don't you? I'd never survive such a movie. It's too....................BORING!!!!

That's what I thought, too. Before watching.

(and, if anything, I also noticed a certain stunning swimmer that we meet at the swimming pool in the movie . . . ha)

It's all interesting-to-me reasons I posted the question -- it's a movie I thought I wouldn't like but I ended up liking it a lot. And I love the music in it. ( I realize none of this may help you give the movie a look, ha. )

It was on Netflix or Prime a while back and I started it twice but it just didn't capture me.

    I get it, yes.

I'm unsure why I was so involved in it. I like the cast a lot,  especially Ellen Burstyn, but, still - - I almost don't remember details, instead, just a sense of having experienced the movie along with the cast.

BB's answer may help you understand your nice memory about it.  I'm watching something on Prime right now that is a nice story but the acting is awful and the production seems like it's from the 50s, and maybe it is.  I think I'll find out.  It's a Scottish production and the few glimpses of the  countryside are very pretty and inviting.  Oh, and the music is good.

I find I can have all sorts of reason to like, or not like, various forms of fine art.  :)

With movies, sometimes it can be literally one thing that can make me like or not like it.

And I'm listening to the soundtrack as I type; the one pictured in the video I posted.  :)

I did listen and it's lovely and sounds like an American memory.

Thanks for listening! Glad you like it!

I'm listening again as I type. For weeks, it seems, when I get home in the evening/night, I've listened to this soundtrack. I find it incredibly calming.
