I chomped down on a bite of salad during lunch on my first ship and there was something squishy in it. I didn't even look, I just threw it out. It was a long time before I ate another one. Another one...same ship. I was thirsty one night, so I went to the galley to get some bug juice. In the dispenser was a blue juice, which I had never seen. I poured a cup and took a swig. It was a cleaning solution. To this day, I will not drink anything blue. Oh, bug juice is anything that the Navy serves from a drink dispenser.

Yup - - those kinds of things are what I'm asking, thanks, Element 99! :)
Thanks for your explanation on 'bug juice" - - my first thought reading that was "What's bug juice?"
And is a "bite salad" something special? No biggie - - I, too, probably would've had a bad reaction, just with an unexpected squishy texture in my mouth.
Only thing I can think of that’s a bit similar was the first time I tried wasabi. I thought it was going to be like guacamole for some reason so I used a large about of it. My tongue and nose were on fire for the rest of the night lol.
