White woman in a gorilla mask throws an egg at a black politican. Is this a hate crime?

Since "hate crimes" are tied to intent ... there's not enough information.

Many of us want to throw eggs or rotten food at politicians, regardless of ethnicity or gender or ideology.

Many people wear masks to either hide their identity or make a statement.
And let's be honest, a gorilla mask is a better disguise than a bandana.

The one I saw wasn't white; she also hit Elder's security guard. What a world in which to live!!!

Was there more than one in a gorilla mask? The one I seen was a white person (arm looks like a woman's)  gorilla mask with pink hair.

Yes, there is so much hate against gorillas. Why do we even try to frame them in events like this one. It's not fair to blame gorillas for having monkeys for politicians.

Yes, I saw it again tonight on the news.  The first time I thought she was brown or black and I didn't know that the mask was a gorilla, it was just black.  That is probably why my impression was that she was black.  Regardless, we are living in crazy times and she should be arrested.  I do hope California can get rid of that horrible excuse for a governor.

Egging politicians is a public service, not a hate crime - regardless of race or political persuasion.

So violence is ok if it is a person you disagree with politically?

Would you partake in the verbal assault of a politician? Would you throw eggs at them? If so then you're part of the problem this world faces and not part of the solution. If you wouldn't partake in such behavior, why are you advocating it? Just curious.

Taking into consideration what happened during this whole incident, yes, it was a hate crime. And something tells me, this won't be the last time something like this happens. Because Larry Elder is a Conservative Republican, the media pretty much disregarded the whole thing. Had he been a Democrat/Liberal, the media would have pounced all over it and made it into a national disaster.

You're correct about them doing nothing.
