Have you ever heard of a wedding raffle?

A middle-aged couple, second marriage for both, held a raffle to raise money for their wedding (I guess).  The tickets were $10.00.  Is this the "in" thing to do nowadays?

    Have not heard of it.
    It would actually be illegal in Washington - since only the government can violate the Constitutional prohibition on gambling.

    I want to be married at the courthouse and not have a big wedding.  It costs too much and I'm in a hurry, I want to beat my expiration date.

    You can do better than a courthouse, though. If you can't find a religious official to marry you at a public park for a comparable cost, just pay a friend or relative the $50 or whatever it costs to become an ordained officiant and have them do it!

    I have not heard of either a raffle or charging an entrance fee (which is what this raffle sounds like to me, without any actual prize involved).
