Are "crazy cat ladies" really just priestesses of Bastet?


Is that why early Christians were so afraid of women who associated with cat "familiars"?
Is that why it's considered bad luck for a black cat to cross your path? (one of Bastet's duties being to escort the dead in the afterlife)

    I do not know anything about that. I am a crazy 2-dog lady, no offense to cats. But that sounds like a promising theory, I think. 

    Poor black cats and dogs are euthanized at much higher rates than any other fur color. Terrible, isn't it?
