Do you ever chew up your medication pills to see what they taste like?

I usually do; sometimes the taste is horrible.

Just once.  The doctor said don't do it, the bottle said don't do it, but I was a kid and curious, so.... !!!  It took hours before that to finally get that burning taste out of my mouth.   I've NEVER chewed that med again since.

No.  I prefer to swallow them whole with water.

Unfortunately, two of my pills are too large to swallow, so I have to chew them. They taste bad for a reason; if a child tries to eat one, he/she will hopefully spit it out. This post was edited by Element 99 at December 24, 2021 10:36 AM MST

We had a scare with my sons. They got my Mom's meds. When we took them to the hospital, the doctor found it hard to believe they ate any because of the taste of them.  I had to explain I know the youngest did...he completely sucked the outer coating off and was still going. I physically popped the pill out with my finger.
They decided to use the activated charcoal in their stomaches.  Very scary stuff.

No. Some meds should not even be cut in half or crushed.  Especially if it is a time released med....you can overdose by doing that.

Why? That's never occurred to me, as far as I can remember.

Nope and never! The only dumb thing I do is pop pills with no water.
