Just once. The doctor said don't do it, the bottle said don't do it, but I was a kid and curious, so.... !!! It took hours before that to finally get that burning taste out of my mouth. I've NEVER chewed that med again since.
Unfortunately, two of my pills are too large to swallow, so I have to chew them. They taste bad for a reason; if a child tries to eat one, he/she will hopefully spit it out.

We had a scare with my sons. They got my Mom's meds. When we took them to the hospital, the doctor found it hard to believe they ate any because of the taste of them. I had to explain I know the youngest did...he completely sucked the outer coating off and was still going. I physically popped the pill out with my finger. They decided to use the activated charcoal in their stomaches. Very scary stuff.
